Hair Brush-Keep It Clean!

Hair Brushes. Selecting The Best

Some people prefer round brushes. Other people straight brushes. No matter which you prefer, the important thing is to KEEP IT CLEAN. Why? Even if you do not share your brush with other people in your family, you will have dead cell matter on the brush. Sometimes this can include sebum. Sebum is an oily secretion of the sebaceous gland which helps to preserve the flexibility of the hair and healthy scalp. If you can keep your brush clean, you will notice less dander. Dirty brushes if shared can "share the dirt" and it is best for each family member to have their own personal brush.

We would never imagine sharing toothbrushes with even a family member. This same principle can apply to hair brushes. Though Salon's have special procedures and chemicals for cleaning brushes, in your own home you can use dish soap and warm water to clean your brush since it is not being shared with anyone else.

This brush above is one of my favorites. It is from Sally’s Beauty Supply. It is called the Static Free Ultra Flo Vent Brush by Cricket. Air can pass through this brush which is great if you have a lot of hair like I do. If you prefer a round brush they have a great selection there too.

Interesting about the brushes at home verses in a Salong. It gave me good food for thought. I will have to take better care of my brushes. Thanks Shirley
